  • transform! europe explores the dynamics of the European elections 2024, addressing low voter turnout, distrust in institutions and the challenge of the 'European issue' in political debates. Dive into the enduring left-right cleavage, sociological and ideological divides and discover insights for a strategic political roadmap.

transform! europe's mission is to strengthen the European radical left in the run-up to the European elections. This research addresses key questions: What segment of the electorate should the radical left target in these elections, and how? What lines are shaping the European political space internally? In addition, the study challenges the prevailing notion that the traditional left-right political divide is fading, emphasising its continued relevance.

In response to the urgent need to tackle these key issues and formulate an effective policy strategy, this document seeks to explore them, drawing on the existing scientific literature, in order to make a substantive contribution to the ongoing debate. Our approach unfolds in three distinct stages. First, we embark on a comprehensive examination of the social groups that form the basis of the left-wing electorate, essentially scrutinising the sociological divisions that define this constituency. Subsequently, we examine the ideological cleavages that shape this voter base. Finally, we use the insights gained from the initial stages to formulate strategic recommendations, thus concluding our analytical journey.

The ultimate aim of this study is to provide the radical left with the knowledge and foresight needed to engage effectively with the European electorate and drive progressive change.
