Matyas Benyik

Matyas Benyik is Chairman of ATTAC Hungary and Member of the Hungarian Social Forum Networks. Being an economist, he is specialized in trade policy issues and economic integrations. He participated in several international campaigns against GATS and WTO. His Marxist political orientation goes back to his youth. In the 1960s he was an active member of the Young Communist League, then from 1972 until the end of 1980s was a member of the Hungarian Socialist Workers Party. His political activism continued after the system change in the civil sector, namely in Karl Marx Society/Hungary, where he is a board member now.
