Pierre Laurent: “Let the MEPs see Gaza with their eyes!”

Israel refused to allow a delegation composed by 13 MEPs from European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) to enter Gaza.

Facing the decision of the Netanyahu government, the president of the Party of the European Left (EL), Pierre Laurent has openly expressed his indignation: “I oppose this arbitrary decision that violates the international law. This action shows once again Israel’s refusal to seek peace and to welcome a peaceful, fair and sustainable conflict resolution”.
The president of the EL added that the evoked reason is “unacceptable”. “MEPs from the GUE/NGL are there to assess the situation on the ground first hand, and this is the reason that bothers the Israeli authorities”.
Pierre Laurent concluded his declaration asking Federica Mogherini, the new High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union, to strongly protest against the Israeli government in order to reverse its decision.
