August fand im griechischen Olympia eine Sommerakademie mit dem Thema „Beyond the refugee crisis – studying in Europe“ statt, wo griechische Student_innen und junge Flüchtlinge zusammentrafen. Unterstützt wurde die Initiative von der griechischen Vize-Bildungsministerin Sia Anagnostopoulou, vom Europarat und der philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Athen.

  • On 23rd June 2016, Britain voted to leave the European Union – the so-called Brexit vote. On a turn out of 72.2%, 51.9% voted to Leave and 48.1% to Remain, thereby defeating the position of both Cameron’s Conservative government and the Labour Party under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn. This was a hard fought campaign, with its fair share of lies and dirty tricks.

  • Zwischen 20.-24. Juli wurde im italienischen Chianciano Terme die diesjährige Sommeruniversität der Europäischen Linken abgehalten. In diesen drei Tagen konzentrierten sich Diskussionen auf drei Hauptthemen: Europa, Arbeit und Frieden. Über 260 Personen aus 31 Staaten nahmen an dieser außerordentlich produktiven EL-Sommeruniversität teil. Sie kamen aus ganz Europa, aus dem Nahen Osten, Nordafrika und Lateinamerika.
