Obwohl es mit nur 43% Beteiligung – selbst bei 98% Ablehnung des EU-Modells – ungültig war, spricht die Regierung von einem großen Erfolg und will die Verfassung dementsprechend ändern.

Einerseits ist offensichtlich – und das wurde einmal mehr durch das britische Referendum bestätigt –, dass Europa nicht so weitermachen kann, wie bisher. Das „Nein“ richtete sich, wohlgemerkt, nicht nur auf die Union, sondern auch auf die politische Klasse Großbritanniens. Damit wird deutlich, dass das Scheitern des neoliberalen Modells nicht nur die Europäische Union bedroht, sondern auch die Mitgliedsstaaten.
