Costas Douzinas is president of the Nikos Poulantzas Institute, Professor of Law and Head of the Humanities faculty at Birkbeck University. He is also member of the Greek parliament and Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Relations, which submitted the Prespes Agreement to the Hellenic Parliament.

Douzinas’ latest book is called “Syriza in Power. Reflections of an Accidental Politician”. In the interview with transform! europe’s director Barbara Steiner he talks openly about his experience as „accidental politician”, on the blackmailing of the Syriza government by the Troika in 2015, the victory of the referendum and the following defeat. He answers the question why Syriza remained a single case for a radical left party to enter government and gives an outlook to the European Parliament elections that take place end of May, the same day on which Greece will hold regional and municipal elections closes the interview.
